Under the non-lucrative visa, applicants are not allowed to actively work, meaning they can still be earning passive income for example, through pension or rents. However, it is possible to transition to a work permit or entrepreneur visa from the non-lucrative visa. This is in fact the chosen route for many foreigners as it is much easier to get a work permit while in Spain than applying from outside.
